"In my field of travel writing, the description 'life-changing' is bandied about loosely, but I could not be more sincere when I say this trip (February 2007 Nagaur Relief Ride) changed my life." (read more) -- Andrew Mersmann, author of Frommer's "500 Places Where You Can Make a Difference"

We are pleased to announce the creation of our year-round sustainable humanitarian programs, designed specifically for the communities we serve.
For 9 years, we have been providing medical, educational and food aid on our Relief Rides, which take place three times a year between November and March. This year, for the very first time - thanks in large part to our Alumni Riders, and friends, both in Dubai and Vancouver - we were able to design purposeful and effective new programs, and continue previous seasonal programs on a year-round basis.
It is through our strong pre-existing partnership with Anubhooti Society, that we are able to provide consistent support to the communities we are serving. Anubhooti Society is an NGO founded by Dr. Mahesh Arora (RRI's Executive Medical Director), whose mission is to serve vulnerable people from underprivileged sections of society.
Early Childhood Care Program
In India, 1 in every 15 children under age five dies of preventable conditions due to a lack of access to the basic medical care others take for granted.
The RRI and Anubhooti Society Early Childhood Care Program now offers regular healthcare check ups, treatments and medical referrals to 200 pregnant women and disadvantaged children under the age of 6 in the slums of Jaipur. Read more...
Young Women's Empowerment Program
According to The World Bank, women make up less than 35% of the Indian workforce, a figure that has remained stagnant for over 3 decades. Although 90% of women in India aspire to work, they are held back by traditional gender roles and large pay disparities. Relief Riders International is focusing on helping underprivileged young women in Rajasthan's urban slums. Read more....
Urban Dental Camps
Thanks to our wonderful group of Alumni Riders and donors from Vancouver, we recently acquired a new dental chair, allowing us to provide more extensive dental treatments while on our Relief Rides, as well as establish dental camps in slum areas of Jaipur throughout the year.
This past August we performed our second dental camp, which we modified into a general medical camp in order to treat patients affected by the recent severe flooding in the area. Our team of dentists was able to offer 150 patients a wide range of dental treatments, and our team of general physicians provided medical care to 70 patients.
For the team at Relief Riders International, this is the result of a lot of hard work and generous support, and marks a significant first step on the path towards year-round services to those in need.
Again, we would like to share our heartfelt appreciation to our Alumni Riders, friends, and future riders, whose support for our continued work is invaluable to us. We look forward to your feedback, support and the possibility of having you join us on one of our Relief Rides.
