“In my field of travel writing, the description “life-changing” is bandied about loosely, but I could not be more sincere when I say this trip (February 2007 Nagaur Relief Ride) changed my life. (read more)

Dear Friends-

Our inaugural Relief Riders trip to Turkey, scheduled for this June, is filling up fast.

We'll be traveling to the Cappadocia region of Turkey, known for its extraordinary horses and its stunning natural wonders.

The high plateau of Anatolia is famed for its colorful river valleys, its dramatic ravines, and 13,000 foot volcano, a glorious backdrop for our journey. The area, one of the cradles of human civilization, features settlements dating back as far as eight hundred B.C.

Our horses, the Akhal-Teke, are light bodied and wiry, swift yet possessing great stamina. They are known and admired for their ability to be able to sustain long distance journeys.

Because this is our first Relief Rider's trip to Turkey, riders will be helping officials and villagers to create a unique mix of humanitarian programs to meet local needs. We hope to build some community gardens and children's playgrounds, as well as assist our professionals with dental camps in several villages.

Please join us as we travel through this fascinating landscape, meet and help local people, and experience Turkey's rich history.
