OUR MISSION

There is what I would call the Hero journey, the night sea journey, the hero quest, where individuals are going to bring forth in their lives something that was never beheld before.
Joseph Campbell

Relief Riders International (RRI) is a humanitarian-based, adventure travel company that organizes horseback journeys through breathtaking areas in developing countries around the world.

In 2003, Executive Director Alexander Souri traveled extensively throughout Rajasthan to conduct a thorough needs assessment.

He met with representatives of the Indian Red Cross, educators, and local village leaders. What was immediately apparent was that rural Rajasthan needed all the help that RRI could provide. Alexander decided to focus on three prime areas: health care, education and hunger.

In October 2004, RRI offered its first ride in remote regions of Rajasthan, India.

The idea is deceptively simple: a group of international riders most traveling on horseback (some in jeeps; some atop camels) journey through rural India’s unforgettable landscapes delivering critically important relief supplies.

There are school supplies, goats for milk and food, primary health care for children and adults, and life-changing cataract eye-surgery.

Giving A Goat

A simple mission with a profound impact. As Alexander Souri has written:

Relief Riders International is designed to offer individuals not only an exhilarating journey but the chance to use their skills, enthusiasm and experience to promote positive change. I know from my own travels to Rajasthan that for every gift I have given I have received gifts that have changed my life.
