Dear Friends-

Fresh off of the success of our two Indian Relief Rides, we are now focussing our efforts and looking forward to a beautiful and purposeful experience in central Turkey.

Join us on our June 2012 Cappadocia Relief Ride from June 19th through July 1st, 2012, as we ride through central and outer Cappadocia, breathing in a big sky landscape, experiencing local culture and enjoying sumptuous Turkish food.

Nothing can quite express the feeling and experience when riders and community come together to leave a place better than they found it. The ride is energized by the vital and meaningful work we have planned installing playgrounds and performing dental camps in the rural Turkish villages we will visit.

I'd like to share a personal account from Relief Rider Wayne Meaney of our 2011 Cappadocia Relief Ride.

Time travel with a purpose in Cappadocia!

We rode for hours along rivers, over stunning mountains, and through the dry grasslands of the Cappadocian landscape. Our support truck, a mobile kitchen with a fold-down dining table for ten under an awning, arrived ahead of us at our campsite each day.

Tents were already pitched, sleeping bags already laid on foam mattresses, oil lanterns already hung, and the crew would untack and groom our horses.

These guys worked hard for us. We would eat well—tender and juicy chicken or lamb barbecued over the campfire coals, or trout with garlic, lemon and rosemary—and typically finish the night around the campfire drinking beer, wine or Raki.

And that's just the daily routine.

Hot spring swimming pools. A hot air balloon ride over mysterious fairy chimneys. Stunning Byzantine frescoes in cave monasteries. And time travel: whirling dervishes in a 13th-century outpost after approaching on horseback over the Silk Road.

And we helped people. To experience a culture, there is nothing like offering a hand. The genuine humanity and hospitality of the Anatolian Turks gave depth to the whole endeavor.

I made a dozen friends in the fellow riders and we still keep in touch. I've traveled a lot, and this was one of the best things I've ever done. Honestly.
